September/October Newsletter
Hey! This is my first ever newsletter and I am going to talk about myself and what I have done during September and October.
Hello,
My name is Saeed Tamboli. If you don’t know much about me, take a look at my introduction post. But the important stuff out of there is that I am interested in AI, data science, material science, biology, and anything that relates to computers. But I also have my foot in many other things and I would be down to talk even if we would talk about other subjects.
In September it was my birthday 🥳 (September 15, if you were wondering). But besides us celebrating the day that I did easily the least amount of work, this month I had a lot of work. I got thrusted into high school as a freshman and coming back in person. I also picked up a program called TKS (learn more about it in my intro newsletter) where they teach kids about new and emerging technologies that we could use to change the lives of 1 billion people, crazy I know. So during the latter half of September, I did an explore on material science.
During this explore I learned how every material we use in our daily lives has been put there in order to maximize its use case. Take for example a simple ice cream scooper. Engineers have used highly conductive metal along with some fluid in order to make the tip of the scooper warm by taking heat from the holder’s hand. This makes it easier to scoop cold ice cream, how cool is that!
The reason why though I picked material science as my first explore was that I had some experience with it in the past with graphene. In 5th grade, I was admitted to a gifted and talented program where we created presentations on the future. I chose graphene, which is a material that can solve basically most of the world’s problems. This then led me to try to make it by myself by watching a youtube video. However, I couldn’t complete it because as a 10-year old I didn’t have a centrifuge.
Now on to October. During this month I completed my AI explore and I LOVED it. I think that having this as a focus would be so cool because AI could cross over with literally everything. Having something to cross over with another topic puts you in a very niche category without doing much work. So whatever I might want to do when I get older I could cross it over with AI due to its sheer potential. Also in the pursuit to learn more about AI I have been taking a Udemy course along with watching a youtube web series called AI. These are just to help me understand more about AI and for me to see if I actually want to do it as my focus.
I have also been admitting into the Waksman vWise Fall program. This is a program by Rutgers to help high schoolers publish a novel genome. This seems pretty cool to me and I am finding that I am into biology. Right now we are in the beginning and I am excited to see where it takes me.
